Skopje, 24 December 2019: The Government of North Macedonia adopted the Text of the International Treaty on Exchange of Data for the Verification of Asset Declarations

The Government of Republic of North Macedonia adopted the conclusion for accepting the text of the International Treaty on Exchange of Data for the Verification of Asset Declarations, which purpose is to prevent and combat corruption by providing direct administrative exchange of information concerning asset declarations of public officials between the parties of the Treaty.  

On its 172nd Session the Government authorized Ms. Biljana Ivanovska, President of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption and Conflict of Interests of Republic of North Macedonia to sign the Treaty in behalf of the Government.

The Treaty has been developed under the Regional Project, funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and implemented by the Regional Anti-corruption Initiative (RAI).

The Treaty text has been finalized after three technical expert level meetings in Zagreb (2015), Tirana and Sofia (2016), and negotiated on two political meetings in Laxenburg (2018) and Podgorica (2019). It is envisaged that the Treaty signing ceremony shall take place in Vienna, in March 2020.

We hereby would use the opportunity to congratulate North Macedonia, being the second country in the SEE region formally prepared for the Treaty signing.
