On their 141^st session, the Government of Montenegro adopted the Text of the International Treaty on Exchange of Data for the Verification of Asset Declarations, which purpose is to prevent and combat corruption by providing for direct administrative exchange of information concerning asset declarations of public officials between the countries in the region.

The Treaty has been developed under the South East Europe Regional Programme on Strengthening the Capacity of Anti-corruption Authorities and Civil Society to Combat Corruption and Contribute to the UNCAC Review Process, implemented by the Regional Anti-corruption Initiative (RAI) and UNODC and funded by Austrian Development Agency. The Treaty text has been finalized after three technical expert level meetings in Zagreb (2015), Tirana and Sofia (2016), and negotiated on two political meetings in Laxenburg (2018) and Podgorica (2019). The Treaty signing ceremony will take place in Vienna on 24 March 2020.

We hereby would use the opportunity to congratulate Montenegro, being the first country in the region formally prepared for the Treaty signing.
