RAI Secretariat took an active participation at the regional conference “Cities with Integrity”, which was held on January 29 to 31, 2017 in Belgrade, Serbia.

The Conference was organized by the World Bank and Government of Austria, as part of the Urban Partnership Program II. It brought together around 70 local government officials, local government associations, integrity practitioners and civil society representatives from South-East Europe. Participants had an opportunity to share good practices and discuss progress as well as challenges that local governments are facing in curbing corruption. Participants discussed about different anti-corruption mechanisms implemented on local level, including citizen e-portals, budget calendar, education of representatives of local communities, use of social networks, improvements of internal communication, citizen engagement in strategic decision making, etc.

Tomislav Curic, Acting Head of RAI Secretariat presented the work of RAI Secretariat and the South Eastern Europe Regional Programme on Strengthening the Capacity of Anti-corruption Authorities and Civil Society to Combat Corruption and Contribute to the UNCAC Review Process, with the focus on best practices in the field of corruption risk assessment and corruption proofing at the regional level.
