The Anti-Corruption Unit of the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office has charged MP Manol Genov with vote-buying, the press office of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria announced.

Manol Genov is accused of offering BGN 25 per vote to individuals living in Asenovgrad to encourage them to vote in his favour and in favour of a political party in the parliamentary elections held on 26 March 2017. Assenovgrad resident Nikolay Hristev is charged with the same offence.

Manol Genov has been released on bail with a condition of residence.

Genov has agreed to the revocation of his immunity from prosecution as sought by Prosecutor-General Sotir Tsatsarov.

The investigation continues.
