Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa delivered a press conference today to unfold some results regarding fight against organized crime and corruption.

Mustafa mentioned the fact that last year, there have been 1649 cases of organized crime, corruption and economic crime. “It is a figure that shows the number of cases against organized crime, corruption and economic crime in Kosovo. There have been 894 indictments against 1561 people. In the fight against human trafficking, there have been 165 investigations, 6 criminal groups have been dismantled and 178 people have been arrested”, Mustafa said.

According to him, during his government’s term in office, security and public order has been improved in comparison to 2014. “The trend of results is seen on the fact that the number of murders in Kosovo has gone down by 28.57% compared to 2014, the number of thefts has gone down by 22.72% and the number of robberies has gone down by 22%.”

Mustafa also mentioned the concrete results achieved in different domains by the Ministry of Interior. He said that Kosovo is the only country that applies the law that forbids Kosovars to join foreign conflicts. “Today we are a country with a strategy against terrorism and against radicalism. Important measures have been taken in strengthening the rule of law, against organized crime, corruption and fight against human traffickers”, Mustafa said.

According to Mustafa, there have also been important results in the European agenda. Present in this conference was also Interior minister, Skender Hyseni. According to him: “Kosovo can proudly say today that this is the eighth month that no Kosovo citizen has joined foreign conflicts. This has come as a result of the great work that we are doing”, minister Hyseni said.
