Joint signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation on Enhancement of Whistleblowing between RAI Secretariat and APIK

Wednesday, 28 October 2020 – The RAI Secretariat and the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of the Fight against Corruption B&H signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation on the Enhancement of Whistleblowing Policies and Culture. The MoU signing event was witnessed by Director of APIK, Mr. Hasim Sabotic, and Head of RAI Secretariat, Mr. Vladan Joksimovic as well as the team members of the project ‘Breaking the Silence: Enhancing Whistleblowing Policies and Culture in Western Balkans and Moldova’ funded by the European Union, which RAI implements in seven beneficiary jurisdictions.

This MoU aims to sustain the cooperation of both institutions in the area of enhancing the whistleblowing process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, by strengthening the legislative and institutional framework, in line with the EU Directive on Protection of Whistleblowers and providing support to improving whistleblowing protection mechanisms.

Apart from signing the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation with the anti-corruption institutions relevant to whistleblowing in North Macedonia and Albania, this is the third MoU signed between RAI Secretariat and anti-corruption agencies in the beneficiary jurisdictions on enforcing whistleblowing, but the first one signed in person.

This activity fits the broader effort that RAI Secretariat is investing in helping public institutions in the SEE to live up to their commitments taken on in the process of European integration, in particular, to enhance their capacities to efficiently combat corruption and recognizing the relevance of such a Project for the achievement of common long-term goals.
