Angel Maria Villar, president of Spanish FA and vice-president of FIFA and UEFA, arrested on corruption charges

Angel Maria Villar, the president of the Spanish FA and vice-president of FIFA and UEFA, has been arrested by police investigation corruption.

Villar’s son, Gorka, has also been detained by officers following a raid on several offices in Madrid linked to the Spanish soccer federation (RFEF).

Several other football executives were arrested by police with charges of collusion, fraud and embezzlement.

The police confirmed the arrests in a statement on Tuesday morning.

Villar has been head of the RFEF for over 30 years and remains on FIFA’s executive committee.
