Third International Whistleblowers Day 21 March 2019 Tirana, Albania

Southeast Europe Coalition on Whistleblower Protection is a regional initiative, established in 2015, dedicated to strengthening legal rights and protection for employees and citizens who report corruption. The Coalition is the world’s first regional organization of its kind. It is comprised of 25 NGOs, journalism organizations and other groups from 12 Southeast and Eastern European countries, as well as regional organizations.

Since 2017 the Coalition launched the annual International Whistleblower Day, which is used as an opportunity to promote the Coalition’s work and to discussing issues that concern whistleblowing and protection of whistleblowers at various levels. This year, the annual International Whistleblower Day organised in Tirana will focus on discussing the challenges and inhibiting factors that prevent whistleblowing form becoming a normal part of the integrity culture of the public institutions and private corporate businesses, despite legal frameworks and institutions being in place.

Mr. Vladan Joksimovic, Head of RAI Secretariat is taking part in the event as a speaker in the first panel titled Challenges to implementing legislation on whistleblowing and protection of whistleblowers: European and Balkan Perspectives.
