As one of the partner organizations, RAI Secretariat prepared and on November 20, 2020, moderated Panel 5 on “Prevention and Countering Corruption in the Public Sector” as a part of the Fifth Regional (Jumbo) Security Coordination Conference (19-20 November 2020). The conference was organised by the RCC with the support of Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Italy. Panel 5 was attended by the respective speakers and representatives from the anti-corruption agencies and bodies from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia as well from the SELDI Network and the Transparency International Sarajevo.

The panellists presented the recent developments, trends, and challenges in the development and implementation of the national anti-corruption legislation, strategies, and measures with a focus on enhancing the integrity of public officials, digitalization of the asset disclosure systems, tailoring the anti-corruption training, the efforts for enhancing the transparency and oversight over the party funding during the elections, the systematic deficiencies, identified in the public procurement procedures and the negative effects of the COVID-19 outbreak on all these processes, the importance of the role of the civil society in promoting the regional cooperation in targeted anti-corruption fields. At the end of the Panel, the Head of RAI Secretariat, Mr. Joksimovic stressed that the panellists managed to detect the particular, but as well the common regional problems and in this regard, adding that with its projects, RAI remains dedicated to further promoting of the regional cooperation and exchange of good practices in the anti-corruption efforts.
